VIRTUAL BOOK FAIR
April 29, 2021Hi Parents/Guardians,
Mary Queen of the World will be hosting its first virtual book fair from May 3-14. The book fair plays an integral part in maintaining and sustaining our Learning Commons and classroom libraries. The rewards we receive from the book fair go back into the school to support the students’ learning and love of reading. So far this year we have been able to purchase a book box starter library for every classroom, digital resources for the school and grade levels, guided reading materials, and stocked the library with new and exciting books.
To access the book fair simply follow the link below and select the books you would like to purchase. For orders over $40 shipping will be free. Orders under $40 have a flat shipping rate of $6.00. Not to worry though because every Wednesday night from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm will be Family Night. During this two-hour window, all shipping will be free, so you can order a $5.00 book and not pay anything extra.
Please have a look through the book fair virtual flyer and help support your child’s school and love of reading.
Thank you,
Mr. Day

Suspension of In-Class Instruction (K-12) for Newfoundland Schools
To: School community
From:MQW
Subject: Suspension of In-Class Instruction (K-12) for Newfoundland schools.
Date: February 14, 2021
On the advice of Public Health, the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District is extending the suspension of in-class instruction to all K-12 students in Newfoundland. This suspension was effective Friday, February 12, and will extend until Friday, February 26.
Teachers and other staff have been preparing for online learning.
Primary/Elementary online instruction will begin Monday, February 15.
Please note: If you have any questions, please contact the school.
This measure is taken to allow Public Health to expand its contact tracing and testing into other school populations in the metro area as well as other parts of the province, and to further limit student interactions with each other and the community at large.
We understand this is difficult news for students and families. Understandably, there will be questions and concerns. Please be patient. Teachers and school staff have been working very hard to help support your child's online learning.
Stay well. We will get through this together if we remain positive and focused on supporting each other and our entire school community.
